From my personal expiriance you should always put the stem in Date Change position first on Asian clone movements (I do it on all now)ALWAYS RELEASE THE STEM IN THE( TIME SET POSITION ), ALL THE WAY OUT. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE IN ANY OTHER POSITION. YOU MAY GET LUCKY AND GET IT BACK IN, BUT i DOUBT IT. WHEN REINSTALLING SLIGHTLY ROTATE THE THE STEM AS YOU PUSH IN.
Then roll the date a couple clicks to make sure you are good. Then I use a pin and apply the slightest pressure while gently pulling out the stem and you will feel that exact sweet spot where it will release. You can't go too far this way...
Now you can test to see if you screwed up the keyless works... Simply put the stem gently back into the watch until it stops without pushing the pin to reinstall all the way and try to change the Date. If you can easily change the date then you are ok, and can slip the stem back out. If the date will not change then you messed it up.
To reinstall the stem all the way do the reverse of removing it.. Slight pressure on the pin while gently pushing the stem in and you'll feel the sweet spot where it just slips in. I push the pin to reinstall in date change position to avoid the risk of pushing the gear without the stem being fully installed.

PS: the keyless works clutch gets messed up when you remove the stem the first time, not when you are putting it back in. If you have problems when reinstalling the stem then you most likely messed it up when removing!
If you leave the watch in normal running mode on asian movt the pressure spring above the clutch is not as well positioned over the clutch to hold it down. In date change mode there is better positioning of the spring to hold the clutch in the gear, and the ability to test if it's in by trying to change the date, so at least you know before you reassemble
It took me a while watching the whole assembly in a loupe while pulling the stem in/out, and messing up the clutch, to see what was going on..
